Update: Hyundai India launched its smallest car Eon today in Gurgaon. Hyundai Eon launched in 6 variants with starting price if under Rs. Rs 2.69 Lakhs to top variant of Rs. 3.71 Lakhs. Hyundai Dealers have already started to accept the booking of Hyundai Eon car starting October 1, 2011 with a booking amount of Rs. 20,000. Herere the list of prices basis on the model:

First instance of action in the cut throat low end entry level car segment is almost a revolution with Hyundai throwing style, substance, space, performance and fuel efficiency to take on the Alto league.

After launching a slew of premium hatchbacks in India, Hyundai is now preparing to introduce a small car priced below Rs. 3 lakh. The car, to be called Hyundai Eon, will compete against Maruti Suzukis best-selling car Alto.

Eon will be an entry-level car but at the same time it is likely to be spacious with a large boot. The car is likely to be powered by an 814 cc engine with a mileage promise of over 20 km per litre.

Brings us straight to discussing the price point of the new vehicle which should be on or about the Rs 2.5-lakh ex-showroom sticker tag for the base Alto. Hyundai would have worked out what it had to do with a brand new modern design to try and engineer it not just to the pricing of the Alto but more importantly, allow it to deliver more in terms of style, occupant space, performance, fuel efficiency than the established segment leader.

Thus was born Project HA, which saw not just Hyundai’s design and development centre at Namyang in Korea do most of the work, but the fact that Hyundai’s Hyderabad-based R&D centre also pitched in massively to firm up a product which is fresh and appealing and also meets most requirements in this class of small car in India.

The new Hyundai is a stunner with substance to boot, as I discovered during the course of an exclusive half an hour session driving this small Hyundai at the firm’s Namyang test track. In one fell swoop Hyundai seems to have re-written a new chapter for entry level small cars and it is here in the Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3.0 lakh space, where most entry level buyers are to be found searching for their first spanking new automobile.

While the Tata Nano may be cheaper, the Indian consumer is looking at better value, more substance and style rather than just focus on pricing. And in this era where every detail counts, the Eon should be the one which could ignite an all-new and more meaningful race in this segment.

The Eon is built on a completely new platform which has no bearing on the ones used before, either for the Santro or the svelte i10. What clearly denotes the Eon is its stylish exterior with hints of Hyundai’s fluidic design language showing. It is no secret that trying to style a small package is much more difficult than a larger sized hatch or saloon.

But with the Eon, the Hyundai design team has really pulled out all the stops and emerged with a package that is fresh, contemporary and appealing. Casey Hyun, the Australian-born Korean who headed the design team, was clear in his mind that style was as important as the interior detailing needed to prepare a product which had to stand the test of time in a class which would see newer competition arrive sooner rather than later.

We have published a sample App Engine application to help you move your data from one place in the cloud to another, transforming it along the way. The Data Pipeline application includes samples to get you started quickly and produce powerful pipelines right out the gate. It also has a simple API for extending its functionality.



Data Pipeline is a Python application that uses Google App Engine Pipeline API to control complex data processing pipelines. Pipelines are built of stages that can be wired together to process large amounts of data, with work going on in parallel. The application comes with several sample stages that use many of the Cloud Platform services. You can easily write new stages to perform custom data processing.



The Data Pipeline app comes with built-in functionality that lets you read data from:

• URLs via HTTP


• Google Cloud Datastore


• Google Cloud Storage

transform it on:

• Google App Engine using the Google App Engine Pipeline API


• Google Compute Engine using Apache Hadoop

and output it to:

• BigQuery


• Google Cloud Storage

For example, one of the pre-built dataflows takes a file from a Cloud Storage bucket, transforms it using a MapReduce job on Hadoop running on Compute Engine, and uploads the output file to BigQuery. To kick off the process, simply drop the file into Cloud Storage.



We hope that you will not only use the built-in transformations, but will create custom stages to transform data in whatever way you need. You can customize the pipelines easily by extending the Python API, which is available here on Github.



You can also customize the input and output; for example, you could customize the output to write to Google Cloud SQL.



You create and edit pipelines in a JSON configuration file in the applications UI. The app checks that the configuration is syntactically correct and each stage’s preconditions are met. After you save the config file, click the Run button to start the pipeline execution. Youll see the progress of the running pipeline in a new window.

Motorola to party like its 1999 Droid 5 incoming

Remember the keyboard slide out phones that seemed to be in the hands of most Americans ?! 

Well Motorola does and the Google company is going to give the Droid 4 a new update in the shape of the .... Droid 5.... wow what a name !

The slide out keyboard is a feature dare I say it - I prefer to a touch screen, because I like to feel the physical click of a button. Its not as easy to typo, and since the problems of the Droids 2 and 3s nasty keyboard experience were sorted in the Droid 4, the 5 should have been tweaked a that little more - close to perfect dam it.

Is this the last of the Motorola pre Google phones Larry Page wasnt too kind about ? If so then this could be the last of the Droid xyz we will ever see, and if it has the Droid name then it will be Verizon exclusive in the US - which would suck. The world needs to have at least one slide out keyboard Android.


There is no internet chatter regarding the Droid 5s release date or pricing -- or what carriers / networks that will offer the the device. Guessing this will remain in the US (as above) and wont make Europe either. - No further news but given that in-the-wild photos are already surfacing, it should only be a matter of time before more details come to pass.

Sony Z1 Compact is the iPhone migration choice

Sony have really landed one square on the chin of Apple with the Sony Z1 Compact. Its clear that the size and form factor of being close to the iPhone 5 size is no accident, as really there is no natural competitor to Apples flag ship until now.

While many other OEMs are hell bent on making the biggest screen, everyone seems to have forgotten about the iPhone 5 from Apple which still sells in the buckets. Most of the minis on the market are an underwhelming version of its big brother - HTC and Samsung have been guilty of making a mini in spec, mini in price policy which hasnt really worked out well for either of them.

Making the footpath to Android more accessible to something that is really needed to be addressed, sure Apple are making a bigger screen iPhone but the hearts and minds of those who accuse Fandroids of carrying a TV in their pockets needs to be won. I think the Z1 Compact is the handset to do just that.

The size is very pocket-able, the specs have remained the same, and the screen is arguably better than its big brother regardless of the lack of pixels but it has more than the iPad 3, and everyone loved that. I hold both the iPhone and Z1C in my hands and cant help but think the Z1C is much better quality to feel and looks better than the iPhone - the battery life is also better then the iPhone.

Now the trick is, can Sony get anyone to listen ? I fear it will take a huge Samsung-esq assault on the media to get many to take note and with MWC round the corner the other OEM voices will become deafening.

If you have a friend sat in Apples walled garden who is looking to kick down the fence gate, then send them to the Sony Z1 Compact to investigate, its so close in many ways with the dimension and spec wont have them running back to repair the gate. Lets kick down those walls !

iPhone and iPod touch price drop 100 soon

The news in the market is that Apple may lower prices on the iPhone and iPod touch in the next few months and drop the 8GB touch. Word is that falling flash prices coupled with the desire to introduce the 3G iPhone at an attractive price point will lead to the 16GB iPhone falling to $399, along with similar touch price drops: 16GB for $299 and 32GB for $399. Its not clear whatll happen to the 8GB iPhone, but everyone seems to agree that the 8GB touch is on the way out -- we actually think a $199 8GB touch would fly off shelves, but thats probably cutting margins razor-thin.

Well see when we see and if flash prices are really falling that fast, itll be interesting to see what happens to iPod nano pricing as well. Share your comments with us.

How To Free Up Internal Memory Space On Android Phone

Is your Android phone internal memory space running low? Dont worry, there is a fix for it and its pretty easy. 

Having experienced it myself, I looked for solutions to it and I got a few tricks that works. 

The steps to fix this issue are highlighted below. 

1. One of the ways to free up space is to move apps to SD card.  You can do this in the simplest way or in a more cumbersome way.

The simple way is to download App2SD (App Mgr III) app on Google Play Store (it needs your phone to be rooted for it to work).

Once installed, it will show you various apps installed on your phone internal storage and SD card storage. It will also show lists of apps that can be moved to SD card, those that cant be moved and the percentages of free space left on both memory types as indicated in the images below.

Now all you have to do is tap on any apps listed in the "Movable" section and move these apps that are movable to your SD card. This will free up space on your internal memory.

The cumbersome way which would bring you finally to the place to move apps to your choice storage is to go to Settings/Apps, click on individual app to see if you can move it to SD card. If you can move to SD card, just tap on Move to SD storage or Phone Storage as applied to your device.

Its cumbersome because you have to check each app one after the other to know if its movable or not. If its not movable, it would be greyed out and you wont be able to click on "Move to Phone Storage" button.

2. Another thing that eats internal memory space is apps cache, especially those apps that arent movable to SD card, high volume SMS messages, voluminous call logs and browser history and caches. 

To fix this, just download an app called 1 Tap Cleaner (free in Google Play Store). Once its downloaded, launch and click on History. This would bring up a window which you can then clear history etc. 

You can do same for Call log/text message or just click on Clear All to allow the app automatically work its magic. Once this is done, you would notice a sizable space on your internal memory. 

3. Finally, we are all in the habit of installing apps that we hardly use or dont use at all.

Try and uninstall apps you dont need, especially those apps in internal memory alone. Apps in external memory also have ties and data in the internal memory. Therefore, having too much apps on the SD will tell on the Internal Memory too. You should remove apps that are  not too useful.

Now assuming you have done all the steps above, you should have some space on your internal memory. But, if you still have serious issues on your phone internal memory, your final step is to reset the phone. This would return the phone to factory settings so that all the junks clogging the internal memory are wiped out. 
Ideally, only the internal memory files would be removed, all SD files will remain.

In other to reset, go to Settings, scroll down and click on Backup & Reset and then click on Factory data reset, finally, click on Reset phone.

Once the device is reset, you phone will reboot and be as new.

Samsung introduces Tizen 3 0 along with the NX300M smart camera

Whether by design or by inadvertently not revealing it, Samsung announced during the weekend that the first Tizen powered device has already hit the market. It turns out that the Samsung NX300M camera runs on the Tizen Camera Platform which uses core Tizen technology. This was displayed on a slide presented at the Tizen Developer Conference by Samsung executive VP Jong-Deok Cho. The slide revealed that the Tizen Camera Platform allows the camera to boot up twice as fast as its Linux based competition. The 20MP snapper can also take 9 pictures a second.

As far as the long awaited Tizen powered smartphones are concerned, the first models are expected to launch in February of 2014. These units will have Tizen 2.2.1 installed while Tizen 3.0 should arrive in the third quarter of 2014. Tizen 3.0 will include enabling of multiple accounts and will feature 64 bit support. This version of Tizen will run on IA and ARM chips, offer performance improvements and allow handsets to come to market with more RAM. For developers, Tizen 3.0 will come with a 3D UI framework for better looking and better performing apps.

So much has been written about Tizen including one report earlier this year that the platform was almost dead. In addition, rumored launch dates never came to fruition. But now, Samsung itself is telling us that things are moving forward. Remember, this is the OS that could allow Samsung to step away from Android at some point in the future. Source
